Festival Camping = Suffering?

In 2016 I had an amazing time at the Balaton Sound Festival in Hungary. After spending the first day travelling and partying I was exhausted. I went to bed at 4 AM and woke up 2 hours later, dehydrated and unable to sleep. The sun was rising and my tent felt like an oven.

As I was getting out of my scorching hot tent, something clicked: I grabbed some leftover aluminium foil from the barbecue the night before and spun it around my tent, hoping desperately that it would make sleeping in my tent somewhat more bearable.

And make a difference it did: the tent was significantly cooler than before, and the following morning I slept over an hour longer. My tent also stayed much darker, a huge benefit. I realized that this cool-tent concept was something many festival campers could use to their advantage. I left Hungary with a newfound ambition: to stop people from being burned out of there tents once and for all, and to enjoy their experiences better rested.

Here I am at Balaton in 2016. As the day progressed my fellow campers stripped the aluminium off my tent and made aluminium hats!

2017: Launching the Ohnana

I talked to several close friends about this idea. Soon after, we started making prototypes. After almost a year of designing and testing of different fabrics we ended up with the Ohnana Tent: the coolest tent for festival lovers. In June 2017 we released the Ohnana on Kickstarter. We were amazed by the incredible support; we sold 400 tents during the month-long campaign! You can check out the Kickstarter page here.

2018: Goodbye original Ohnana, Hello Ohnana Rayve!

In 2018 my friend Benny joined Ohnana. Together, we worked on taking the next step in fighting the heat: we developed an improved version of the Ohnana. We started from scratch and listened to feedback from our amazing Kickstarter-backers, and ended up making much better version of the original tent. We call this tent the Ohnana Rayve. With better build quality and heat reflection the Rayve is truly a game-changer.

2019: Ohnana worldwide!

In 2019 we took a big step in conquering the world.. of camping. We split up to start a new Ohnana branch in South Korea - one of the fastest growing camping markets in the world. As of writing this, we're busy developing new cool tents, such as a 4-person family-sized Ohnana. Plus, there are loads of other ideas and projects in the pipeline. Got any suggestions?
